It’s a work in progress…
Where is the Ctrl+Alt+Del of knitting?
Yeah, how many times did I have to frog this new hat I’m working on, and restart it? It had to be about six. First I had a few stitch placement issues and needed to cast on a different amount of stitches. Then I had brain issues and TWISTED the circular join! Then the interchangeable needles I was using kept coming apart, and I was dropping cast-on stitches (you can’t pick these up). I...
Test knitters needed!
Test knitting for my Heart Hat pattern is going on now! I still need another knitter for the 3-6 month size. Click the photo for info…
ALSO! I’ve been asked by Helen, who owns Purl Jam, to come in and give technical help to knitters on Saturday mornings. I’ll be there from 10 to 1 every Saturday after Labor Day. She’s also asked me to teach her beginner class, so if you...
7 months!
John turned 7 months last Wednesday (the 4th). What a little stinker. He’s recently discovered how fun it is to make noise with his nose. He’ll sniff really, really fast with it. I used to always pretend I was our dog and do it to him, maybe he picked it up there. Regardless, it’s hilarious. He can’t say Dada, but he says Mum mum, and Buh buh. Two of his favorite people!...

Knitting pattern by Lelah Olender. Ravel it: Califon Cowl
This open bubble stitch pattern was adapted for use in the round from Barbara G. Walker’s A Second Treasure of Knitting Patterns. The highly textured fabric is perfect for showing off almost-bulky weight handspun yarn, and will only take an hour or two to make.

The Kiddo, the Mom, the creative life
I took a little hiatus from Tumblr, I needed to figure out some stuff in my life. It’s easy being a mama to a cute boy, but it’s not easy remembering the person I was before the kiddo. I really can’t breathe if I am not creating, and the thing that translates the best to the real world from the jumble in my head is when I get two sticks and some string together.
I got pregnancy...

Happy Birthday to M!
It’s my dear, sweet husband’s birthday. He is THIRTY FIVE. Wow. When we met, he was 24… and now 24 seems so young to me (I was 21! 21! A baby!). But anyway, I personally think 35 is a great age, especially since he is now a Dad. In fact… I would go as far as saying he is a DILF! Proof:
You see what I mean?!!??!?!?! How lucky am I?!?! VERY! And in addition to being very...
How to introduce your dog to your new baby...
I side lie nurse in bed, and let our dog Barnabus (aka Bubba and Bub) sleep with us still. We have an Arm’s Reach co-Sleeper next to the bed.
What we did to prepare for this was this (we have a Skye Terrier mix who is VERY attached to us, as we are to him):
1. It helped during the last 5 weeks of my pregnancy that I couldn’t go out to walk him, so M took over all those walks he goes...

We last left off...
with J’s last ultrasound. It was a promising night, I thought that the Cervidil would work. I was wrong, the next morning I had it taken out and I was about 75% effaced, but still high and closed. I think my Doctor was the one who came in and checked me, and he told them to start the pitocin after I had a liquid breakfast. I think it was like vegetable broth or something, with orange Italian...
He is here!
John was 8 days late, and born at 9:48pm Monday, January 4th, 2010 via c-section.
It all really began when I had pregnancy induced hypertension at 37 weeks and had a failed induction right at 38 weeks. I never dilated on cervidil or pitocin, and my blood pressure was totally normal the whole 23 hours I was at the hospital, so my awesome OB sent my butt home to avoid a c-section a that time.

HOORAY!!! This was a horrible idea! If it’s delayed, maybe we can just get rid of it altogether! I’m all for safer children’s products, but not at the expense of the home crafter based in the US.

The Apple IIe, which we got sometime in 1983. I only know we got it then, because it was in the study of our home on the cul-de-sac we lived in in Hudson (our first Hudson home). Apparently it was sold fo 11 years! I sort of learned to use it in elementary school, when the volunteer Moms would teach us that Logo program with the turtle who drew shapes.

The Alps →
I would LOVE to take a hiking tour of the Alps. The promise of cowbells makes my heart sing.
Got a call today saying I scored at 95 on the government’s census test, so I qualify for an interview to work for the census bureau. I think if I am hired, I will save the money I earn for my dream hiking vacation. And an awesome camera to document it. :)
Codes →
Some band called Codes is opening for Keane on their European tour. They have 2 songs on iTunes (US), and they sound like Keane. I will probably really like them. I think they are Irish?
My husband said to me the other day, “You know how sometimes women are born into men’s bodies? You’re a British person born in an American body.” He’s so right.
